dry your eyes

my mother is singing 'If You're Happy and You Know It' with my 20 year old brother.
these kind of situations really depress me sometimes. nursery rhymes and sesame street are usually forgotten by the time you are 6. here i am, a 16 year old girl and i usually spend weekends in front of the tv with my brother watching either sesame street, MTV or the simpsons.
thank god abang likes MTV and the simpsons too.

hyperventilation

a quick post before i have dinner. this afternoon, while playing with my cat, i made quite a discovery :

MY MALE CAT HAS A NIPPLE. NOT A SET OF NIPPLES BUT ONE SINGLE NIPPLE. HE HAS EFFIN' HUGE BALLS BUT HE ALSO HAS A NIPPLE.

well, he had effin' huge balls, but we castrated him so his balls look like furry little grape seeds now.
i could be the onl
y girl in kuantan with a one-nippled male cat.
i mean, do YOU have a male cat with a nipple? i think NOT.

"get your egg bowels out of my cleavage!"

i just spent two hours watching comedy. one and a half hours of Saturday Night Live and half an hour of Whose Line Is It Anyway and it put me in a really good mood.

yes, that IS Alec Baldwin. Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock, Bobby DeLaughter from Ghosts of Mississippi. yeah, that Alec Baldwin.
doesn't he look different? i didn't know he could play gay people so effectively. i am definitely watching more SNL and WLIIA, it makes me forget that i'm supposed to be angry, haha.

shocker

you know josh groban right? he's the dude that sang that song 'You Are Loved (don't give up)'.
its that kind of inspirational and uplifting song and thats usually the genre of music he sings.
BUT in the academy awards, he sang theme songs from all sorts of shows. like the simpsons (!), the brady bunch, the love boat, south park (!) and bla bla bla.

it was like watching pavarotti sing screamo, i swear. it was that much of a contrast.

very very very the random

finals are here. so far i've sat for BM 1&2, English 1&2, Maths 1&2, Sejarah 1&2, Bio 1 and Physics 3.

i don't know what to expect. i think i should be able to manage an A2 for BM. or a B3. i'm trying not to get my hopes up because i wrote shit on my essay.
English is an easy A. i know i sound very very high nose (bak kata fawwaz, haha) but i don't think i'll be getting a B for English.
Maths. i think i did better than mid-year. same as BM lah, maybe an A2 or B3. no high hopes.
Sejarah. if i don't get a B3, at least, all my efforts go down the drain. haha efforts. yeah, right.
Bio 1 not good, not bad.
Physics 3 BOMBED. didn't read about that experiment AT ALL. how am i supposed to know the procedure when i didn't read what the stupid experiment was about?? see, this is what happens when the school changes the questions. the students don't know what to read, sees the gigantic number of reading they have to do and then decide not to read at all. and then, the results go down, the standard goes down and school loses its status. OHMYGOD!

i laughed when i read back the 'very very high nose' part ( direct translation of hidung tinggi / sombong to all you lampi's out there).
fawwaz, surresh and that gang crack me up whenever they do their stupid english jokes.

"nad, may i have a slice of test pad please?"
"do you have a piece of pencil?"
"i got stomach ache. my stomach very twist-twist"
"very very easy. this question very not susah".

eh wait, the 'very not susah' part is what my maths teacher said. alamak.
lets change the subject before i go rolling off about my maths teacher.

its only 9.45 and i'm sleepy. my biological clock has gone mad.
i haven't studied today, all because of the stupid internet. i'm getting rid of it tomorrow.
when are the strokes going to produce a new album? i'm bored of room on fire.
paramore should get their asses moving too.
ditto arctic monkeys.
only the sweet sounds of incubus and brendon boyd crooning into my ear can satisfy me now.
syafiq introduced me to this band, tokyo police club. he said it was 'bestttttt' but all i can say is that the lead vocalist sounds drunk and needs a slap in the face. the guitar riffs are nice though.
i'm crapping. this only happens when i'm sleepy and bored.
stop i shall. goodnight all.

brighter than sunshine

finals are coming up and i haven't studied. i am screwed, i tell you. screwed.

i don't like exams. i don't like the fact that my intelligence is being measured by the answers i give on a piece of paper. i don't like being labeled as average because i don't get a lot of A's in exams. i don't like the fact that a smart person is seen as a person who gets a lot of A's in exams and all the other factors don't really count.

i know this girl who gets straight A's all the time but doesn't know who the first president of the United States is. i once told a friend of mine that Tony Blair replaced George Bush as the president and she believed me. but she does well in school and all her friends say she's smart.
i don't find it really fair. i'm not seen as a smart person just because i can't tell you what kind of curve the equation f(x) = 3x + 2y will give you. and i'm not in the school's top ten because sometimes i can't remember the different phases of mitosis and meiosis. and i'm not put into the first class because sometimes i get the general answers of the question correctly but i wasn't specific enough. or i wrote my answers in point form. or my answer was slightly different than the one in the marking scheme and therefore i don't get full marks.

and if you ask any student why they're studying, you'll get this answer : sebab nak exam.
you don't get kids who study because they want to, you get kids who study solely for exams. nobody wants to read for their own knowledge, everybody reads so that they'll be able to answer the questions they'll be getting on a few sheets of paper. so, we produce robots with no drive. nobody takes the initiative to try new things because we are all trained to think according to what is given to us. and we don't move forward. we get stuck.

maybe that's why i hardly have the feel to study for exams :| i don't see it as something hugely important unless its a big exam like PMR or SPM. i'm happy to be in the middle because i don't have to be pressured to maintain good results and i don't lose too much focus. i know i can do it when i want to, i'm intelligent enough for myself and i don't need the A's to tell me that.

and so, i think, exams aren't really that needed. sure, they show you where you stand but otherwise, what's its purpose? AS IF i'm going to need f(x) = 3x + 2y in the real world. i'm not going to walk under an arch and think "what is the equation for this arch ar?". my future kids won't need to know what kind of gas magnesium chloride will release when its heated. knowing about a straight line might not help me find a good husband in the future.

and now, i have to go. i have to start studying for my final exam, next year SPM. i can't afford to get into a stupid class =.=
